If you aren't yet familiar with The Birthing Circle of Frederick, well head on over and check out their page. Today I want to talk about a recent post on their blog titled Improving Birth Through Customer Feedback. In this post they have a link to a tool they created to give mothers a louder voice.
We are customers and our opinions and feedback matter. If you have ever been a patient in a hospital you may remember the survey that comes in the mail shortly after you are discharged. This survey is your opportunity to speak to those that are in charge of the way the hospital provides care.
These surveys are hung in the break rooms and locker rooms for the staff to see. Nurses, Techs, CNAs and secretaries all get to read the comments from their patients. Don't like the food you were served? Well add a comment to your survey. If enough patients complain, things will change. Did you love your night nurse? Add a kind comment so her coworkers can see that she is doing a great job.
The Birthing Circle has created a forum for patients (customers) to give their providers feedback. It is a fill in the blank style form that you can mail to your OB or midwife and provide feedback on your prenatal care or your stay in the hospital. There is power in having your story heard. Take a minute and head on over to the Birthing Circle's websiteand see what they are up to.
We don't have to navigate pregnancy and the postpartum period alone! Find your tribe!
